TOURNAMENT RULES

American Association of Colombian Engineers

1. Game Format

– Each team plays with 6 players on the field (5 field players + 1 goalkeeper).

– Up to 4 substitutes are allowed, with unlimited substitutions (can be made at any time with referee

approval).

– There is no offside rule.

2. Match Duration

– Each match lasts 20 minutes (two halves of 10 minutes each).

2-minute halftime break.

– In group stage: matches may end in a draw.

– In knockout stage: if tied, it goes to penalty shootout (3 per team).

3. General Rules

– Goal kicks: the goalkeeper may only throw the ball by hand.

– Throw-ins: must be taken with the foot, with the ball stationary on the line.

– Fouls and contact:

– Moderate contact is allowed, but no excessive charging or rough play.

– Slide tackles are prohibited, except for goalkeepers inside their area.

– Physical contact is allowed, but pushing or holding is not.

– Free kicks:

– Fouls inside the area will result in a penalty.

– The wall must be 3 meters away from the ball.

4. Playing Rules

– Field doors must remain closed at all times during the match to prevent interruptions and accidents.

– Goals scored from any area of the field count, as long as the ball is in play.

5. Fouls and Sanctions

– Team foul accumulation: From the 5th foul onward, the opponent is awarded a penalty kick (stationary ball).

After execution, the foul count resets.

– Cards:

– Yellow card: Player must leave for 2 minutes and can be replaced.

– Red card: Player is expelled, and the team plays with one less player for 3 minutes. After that, a substitute

may enter.

– Note: A red card is automatic and non-appealable. Physical aggression results in immediate expulsion from

the tournament.

6. Equipment

– All players must wear shin guards and appropriate footwear for turf (no metal cleats allowed).

– Teams must wear same-colored jerseys. In case of color conflict, bibs will be provided.

7. Goal Kicks and Restarts

– Goal kicks: must be done by hand and may not cross midfield.

– Free kicks and corners:

– Defenders must be 2 steps away from the ball.

– The ball must be stationary and placed on or outside the line. Failure to comply results in a turnover.

8. Group Stage and Knockouts

– Group Stage:

– Win = 3 points

– Draw = 1 point

– Loss = 0 points

– Tiebreaker criteria:

1. Goal difference

2. Goals scored

3. Head-to-head result

4. Fair Play (fewer cards)

– Knockout Stage: single elimination; in case of a tie, penalty shootout (3 per team, then sudden death).

9. Distance & Delay

– In free kicks and corners, players must keep a 2-step distance from the ball.

– Restart delays must not exceed 5 seconds; otherwise, the play is forfeited.

10. Penalty Kicks

– Penalties must be taken without a run-up; the ball must be struck from a stationary position.

– Players, referees, and organizers must be treated with respect.

– Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in expulsion from the tournament.

– No complaints or protests will be accepted against referee decisions.

13. Responsibilities and Agreement

– Players and teams are responsible for adhering to all tournament rules and regulations.

– Participation in the tournament implies full acceptance of this rulebook by all players and teams.
